How to get targeted website traffic by using the power of Web 2.0

by admin on April 16, 2009

Gordan here…Hope you are all well and busy.

Let me describe one of the most frustrating feelings when it comes to generating traffic to your new website or your blog. Your website is up and you have tons of material on how to generate the traffic. Every e-book on traffic tells you about the latest system and that is when you start to ask yourself strange questions…

You end up not doing any work moving onto the new shiny silver e-book that will give you the latest system, a must-have method or something similar.

The key to come out of this vicious circle is to be able to simplify the content you read on how to generate the traffic and create a little system and test, test and test.

Posting on one of the networking sites is a good way to start. There are so many networking sites around so just start with one or two. These sites will become one of your pilars in building traffic to your website or blog.

My favourite one is http://del.icio.us.

Follow these steps:

STEP 1. Just sign up for an account.

STEP 2. Del.icio.us is very popular now, have a look its own hotlist.

• Browse through these lists to see following:
   (a) which URLs have been marked by the biggest numbers of people, and
   (b) look for the subject or topic that relates to your blog or website

• These lists have sub-categories as well. You can check them in order to determine the popularity and relevance..

STEP 3. By now you have aleady decided on your topic. Write something that other people will find inspiring and something that will grab their attention.
Headlines like “how to” and “7 ways to” still work the magic so use them. Use bullet-points as well.

You can download my free 5-part mini course on Web 2.0 traffic here.

If you would like to know more on how to get targeted website traffic I’ll do more traffic posts in the future so eventually you will be able to create a little system that you can follow every so often. Once you are familiar with it then you can document the procedure and give it to somebody else to do it so you can concentrate on other things within your business.
